Monthly Rituals for a Spiritual Reset

There is nothing that has helped me feel like I’m staying on top of things in my life as much as my month reset rituals. Every 1st of the month (give or take a day because let’s be honest, sometimes the 1st just doesn’t happen), I go through the exact same rituals and check-ins. By doing this, I feel like I’m starting my month off positively, I’m clearing off some of those things I hate doing but know I need to do, and it just feels good to have a plan going into each month.

Why should you do a Monthly Reset…

If you’re wanting to start a monthly practice to really reset yourself and start fresh each other – it does not have to be complicated. You can start with one or two things and build up over time as you have capacity and you learn what feels good to you to do. For me, I always wash rugs, screenshot my financial accounts so I can easily track our progress towards our goals, give the dogs their heartworm medicine, and think of 1-2 things I want to accomplish this month. Even though these rituals aren’t super ‘spiritual’ or ‘witchy’ they free my energy up sooo much just be knowing I’m getting them out of the way and can spend the rest of the month doing other things, like my typical spiritual practice.

Ideas for Monthly Reset Rituals

Physical

What things around your space can you take care of at the beginning of the month?

  • Wash things you’ve put off
  • Wash/clean things that only need cleaned once a month
  • Laundry (bedsheets, couch pillows/blankets, duvets, outside rugs/pillows…)
  • Dishes
  • Refill medications
  • Reset your workout area so it’s more inviting this month
  • Dust areas you forget about throughout the month
  • Take the donation pile to the donation center
  • Plan your meals/grocery list
  • ^Empty your fridge of expired food and old leftovers

Mental/Emotional

How can you care for your mental and emotional state this month to take more off of your mental load?

  • Pick 1 or 2 (NOT MANY MORE THAN THAT) things you want to do this month
  • Run errands you’ve put off
  • Do a money check in of all of your financial accounts
  • Brain dump everything that’s bogging you down
  • Write lists for home improvement areas
  • Pick a fun book to read this month
  • Plan a date with yourself, a partner, family, or friends for this month

Spiritual

Creating your own Monthly Reset Rituals

The ideas above are things I do, but creating your own rituals based on what feels best to you is going to give you the best results.

Here’s some questions you can think about while starting your own Monthly Reset Practice:

  • What stresses you out during the month?
  • What can you take off of your plate for the rest of the month by doing it now and getting it over with (for me, this is washing the rugs)?
  • What can you change this month? (Pick one thing so you can focus on it)
  • What inspires you to continue the path towards your dreams?
  • What fills your cup and how can you schedule that into your month?
